Hi,

let me show you hot to create a brand new Project in MS PROJECT PROFESSIONAL 2010, and then hot to Publish it into MS PROJECT SERVER 2010!

First I will open MS PROJECT PROFESSIONAL 2010 and I will connect it to MS PROJECT SERVER 2010:

and then:

Remember, that you DO NOT have to be Administrator for Publishing the Project, as long as you have rights to do it!

I will get:

I will change the Project name and I will add some Tasks:

image

and some Resources:

and finally I will assign Resources to Tasks:

Now I am going to save this Project:

and I will get:

I typed the name! for now forget all other fields! I will cover them in my next posts! When I click on Save button the Project is Saved!

Let’s see! I am logged at my PWA!

and I will get:

image

NOTHING! Is it a Bug? No it is not! My Project is not Published yet, so it is invisible here! how do you know that I am not an liar? I will try to exit MS PROJECT 2010 Professional and I will get:

image

and I will get:

image

So it is a warning message that I did not check in Project to Project Server. I will show you another way!

Since I am logged as an Administrator I will go here in my PWA:

and then:

and here it is:

But where exactly is this Project? In a Draft Database!

Now I will reopen my MS PROJECT 2010 Professional again and I will open my Project:

image

and I will get:

image

I’m going to publish this Project:

image

and I will get:

and then, when I look at the PWA Project Center I can see My Project:

The Project is now in Published database!

Regards!

Hi, Nice work by the way!!!… I was wondering if you could advise me? We are developing a Server 2010 instance and have managed to install and deploy. We have published several projects and would like to start developing reports, however when we log in to SQL server management studio there are no tables or views in ProjectServer_Reporting. I was under the impression the reporting database would be built when the first project was published. I have tried rebuilding the reporting database to no avail!! Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

    Sir,
I’m really impressed with all the works that you’ve done, and your robust knowledge about project pro and microsoft project server. I have one situation right now with my PWA and project pro for one particular project.
In the PWA view, I can see the ID and the sequences of the tasks in the right sequences from 1-67, But when I open it with Project Professional, some tasks are not in the right place, and whenever I changed it, moved the tasks to it appropriate place, saved and published the project; It didn’t work the next time I open it.

one thing that I noticed from Project Pro, when I moved 1 task, for example, task 3 to it right place before task 4, clicked saved, and published, but if I click the Gantt Chart button in the Task ribbon, it will move my task from the right place to the wrong place.

Please help me with this problem, I really appreciate it.
