Inactive Tasks in MS PROJECT 2013

Hi,

this Post will be a really short one!

I’m going to explain how Inactive Task is different in MS PROJECT 2013. First, notice that this functionality is available only with MS PROJECT 2013 PROFESSIONAL version.

I’ll create new Project,first:

Suppose, that I don’t need Task 2 any more. I’ll make it Inactive:

and I’ll get:

As you can see, Task 3, as Successor of Task 2 now has Star date same as Task 2.

Where is the difference between MS PROJECT 2010 and 2013? In 2010 version, Task 3 will have start date set as a Project Start date (e.g. it’s Start date will be the same as Start date of Task 1).  In 2013 version it has same Start date as Inactive Task.

You can like it or not, but it is what it is!

Regards.
